Seth Peabody

Visiting Scholar

Seth Peabody is a PhD candidate in Germanic Languages and Literatures at Harvard University, where he received his Master's degree in 2011. His research focuses on the literature and film of early twentieth-century Germany, examining the visual confluence of imagined wild and urban spaces in Weimar film. At Harvard, Seth has taught courses on Nazi Cinema and medieval Scandinavian epics as well as German language and literature. He has also worked on a mountain farm near Salzburg and a wilderness therapy program in southwest Utah. Currently, Seth is a Fulbright Scholar in Munich, working toward completion of his dissertation "Environmental Fantasies: Mountains, Cities, and Heimat in German Cinema." In addition to the Rachel Carson Center, his research draws from Munich's Alpine Museum and Film Museum archives.
