Web Developer

The Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society, a joint initiative of LMU Munich (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität) and the Deutsches Museum and funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, is looking for a Web Developer for its Environment & Society Portal.


The Environment & Society Portal aims at making data, information, and documents in the environmental humanities available online to a wider public.

The Web Developer will provide ongoing technical support for the content team, maintain and further improve the Portal and its performance, and work on the development of new features.

What do we expect?

  • LAMP skills;
  • Drupal experience;
  • HTML / CSS / JS (GUI world);
  • Proven experience with multiple javascript libraries and frameworks;
  • Ability to maintain a search engine;
  • Familiarity with GIT;
  • Good English language skills; knowledge of German would be an asset

Interest in the humanities and experience in working in university, library, or museum settings, as well as knowledge of interaction design and user experience best practices are advantageous.

  • Initial 6 month contract with possibility for renewal;
  • Flexible schedule, 19 hours per week;
