Anning Xu is a postdoctoral researcher with a focus on the water environment and human—land relationships throughout history. In 2019, she completed her PhD at Fudan University, China. Now she studies and gives lectures on topics of ancient Chinese history, ancient philology, historical humanities, and physical geography and she publishes articles in international journals about the resilience theory. Her research at Rachel Carson Center deals with water conservancy projects and ecological changes under the driving factors of economy and politics in Western China.
