New Book Published by Anna Antonova

Former RCC colleague Dr. Anna Antonova has published her new book, A Discipline of Hope: Environmental Humanities in a Time of Crisis, an outcome of the “Strengthening the Environmental Humanities” project (2020–26), funded by the Volkswagen Foundation.
In A Discipline of Hope, Antonova asks what role the environmental humanities should play in a world shaped by multiple, intersecting crises. Drawing on conversations with 15 environmental humanities scholars, the book explores the field’s challenges, possibilities, and hopes, while reflecting on its intellectual agenda, public responsibility, institutional development, and pedagogy. It argues that the environmental humanities can help foster connections across disciplines and communities, create space for resisting singular narratives and false binaries, and inspire alternative futures grounded in practices already taking shape.
