Ecological Justice in Argentina

Speak4Nature Seminar Series

30.10.2025 11:15  – 12:45

Location: conference room, fourth floor, RCC

Presenter: Dabel Leandro Franco and Marianela Galazino (National University of the Littoral, Argentina)

Moderator: Jonatan Palmblad

In this Speak4Nature seminar, visiting scholars Dabel Leandro Franco and Marianela Galazino (National University of the Littoral, Argentina) will present their research on climate change from the perspective of environmental law and physics.

The seminar addresses the results of a survey on ecological justice conducted in the town of Monte Vera, Santa Fe, Argentina, during 2024. The survey was developed as part of the university extension (also called “third mission”) project “Camps for Ecological Justice” at the Universidad Nacional del Litoral (UNL). This initiative combines teaching, research, and university extension through a territorial work model. Moreover, the work links the university with local communities in the Cinturón Hortícola Santafesino, a region characterized by family farming. As part of the project, 789 surveys were conducted on the perceptions, demands, and difficulties of the population in relation to ecological issues and the existing environmental legal and institutional framework. The presentation exposes the data obtained to identify the social, regulatory, and institutional factors that condition the effective exercise of access to ecological justice in peri-urban environments.

No registration is needed to attend this seminar. If you would like to attend online, however, please register here.

Speak4Nature is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie-funded staff exchange action of the European Commission, with the specific object of transferring both theoretical and empirical knowledge related to the techniques that assert the voice of non-human nature in social and legal instances.
