Harmonization, Cooperation, and Regional Courts: Towards a Comprehensive Legal Framework for Combating Transnational Environmental Crime

SPEAK4Nature Seminar

24.09.2024 12:00  – 13:00

Location: conference room, fourth floor, RCC

Presenter: Dr. iuris Nicolás Cordini

In the third and final seminar “Environmental Law: Current Debate,” Dr. iuris Nicolás Cordini will present his research on Transnational Environmental Crime (TEC), followed by a discussion.

This session will explore the illegal cross-border movement of species, resources, and pollutants in violation of national laws or international agreements. Key topics include illegal timber trafficking, endangered species smuggling, and hazardous waste dumping. Despite its significance, TEC lacks adequate attention in international treaties. The event will discuss the need for legal harmonization, regional courts, and enhanced international cooperation to tackle TEC effectively.

This is a seminar within the series “Environmental Law: Current Discussion,” which is open to anyone interested. Feel free to bring your lunch.

The series is a part of the EU-funded project Speak4Nature.
