A drama about hardship and devotion in the countryside, a story about people: an elderly Quechua couple live a tranquil life in the arid Bolivian highlands. When an unusually long period of drought threatens everything they have built up together, their well-meaning grandson urges them to move to the city. Utama not only makes a strong case against the natural destruction caused by climate change, but also against the gradual erosion of Indigenous cultures and communities.

A discussion with Heinz Schulze (Informationsstelle Perú e.V.) will follow the screening.

The original version of the film will be shown with German subtitles. The discussion will be held in German.
