Valentina Roxo studied international relations and translation in Ekaterinburg, Russia. In 2007, she completed the honors master's program in East European Studies at LMU Munich (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität), where she studied eastern European history, political science, and economics. Her Master’s thesis focused on the role of the Baltic States in shaping EU-Russia relations. She then worked in an international consulting company arranging project finance (in particular for energy projects) in the countries of the former Soviet Union. Since April 2010, she has been researching the environmental history of West Siberian oil for her dissertation.
