Agnes Kneitz studied history and German language for teaching profession at Ludwig- Maximilians-University Munich (LMU). In 2007/2008 she spent a semester at Henan University Kaifeng, China. She finished her undergraduate study at LMU in summer 2009, receiving an MA in recent and modern German history, ancient history, and German linguistics. Her MA thesis dealt with the representation of a nineteenth century historical lawsuit on industrial river pollution in a contemporaneous novel. From 2009 to 2013 Agnes Kneitz has been working as a Research and Communications Associate at the RCC, where she was also part of the structured doctoral program "Environment and Society." After completing her PhD degree on environmental justice and environmentalism in nineteenth century social novels in summer 2013, Kneitz joined the faculty of the School of History at Renmin University of China, Beijing. Here she is a member of the Center for Ecological History, assisting with joint projects between the Center and the RCC.
