Gregg Mitman Awarded Carnegie Fellowhip

26.04.2017

Congratulations to Carson fellow Gregg Mitmann, who has been awarded a 2017 Andrew Carnegie fellowship. Chosen from a group of some 200 candidates, he is among the 35 recipients announced yesterday by the Carnegie Corporation of New York.

The Andrew Carnegie Fellows Program supports exceptional scholars, journalists, and authors whose work brings fresh perspectives from the social sciences and humanities to address current social, political, and economic problems.

Mitman's project will explore how the history of corporate land acquisitions has impacted Liberia’s people and their environment. He intends to use his fellowship to complete a book, “The World That Firestone Built: Capitalism, American Empire, and the Forgotten Promise of Liberia.”
