Ruth Oldenziel's Society of Fellows Munich Fellowship

Further Collaborations and Publications

26.04.2017

During her Munich Fellowship in fall 2016, Ruth Oldenziel (2014) worked with colleague Adri de la Bruhèze as well as with Ursula Münster and the Deutsches Museum on a companion publication to Cycling Cities: The European Experience (2016). Ruth coauthored Cycling Cities with an international group of historians and the volume was published in collaboration with the RCC. Cycling Cities analyzes one hundred years of urban cycling policy, use, and practice in fourteen European cities in nine countries to answer the question of why some capitals and business centers became cycling cities and others did not. The new volume will cover the city of Munich’s one hundred years of cycling and it will be published in conjunction with an exhibition on cycling in June 2017. The public outreach project will result in a global Research-Book-Web-Teaching program for the historical development of urban sustainable mobility.
