Doctoral Candidate Participates in IUCN Workshop

Cultural and Spiritual Values: Developing Best Practice Guidelines for Protected Areas.

Yolanda López-Maldonado, candidate of the RCC’s Doctoral Program in Environment and Society, was one of a group of specially selected individuals invited to attend a workshop led by the IUCN's Specialist Group on Cultural and Spiritual Values of Protected Areas (CSVPA). The workshop brought together an international group of specialists to discuss how values of culture, spirituality, history, and aesthetics can be suitably reflected in the new Best Practice Guidelines for the governance and management of conserved and protected areas.

The workshop was organized in collaboration with the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN) and took pace on Vilm Island, Germany from 4–7 July 2016. More Information can be found here
