Gary Martin Invited to Join Darwin Expert Committee

Gary Martin has been invited to join the Darwin Expert Committee, a scientific expert committee managed by the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (UK) in order to support the Darwin Initiative. As stated on the DEFRA website, 'The Darwin Initiative aims to assist countries that are rich in biodiversity but poor in financial resources meet their objectives under one or more of the three major biodiversity Conventions: the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD); the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna (CITES); and the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS), through the funding of collaborative projects which draw on UK biodiversity expertise.' As a committee member, Martin is charged with both quality control as well as providing strategic advice on the principles and objectives of the initiative; he will serve an initial three-year term.
