Maohong Bao on "Learn from Dazhai" and its Environmental Consequences

Maohong Bao was invited to speak at the center of world environmental history at the Universitiy of Sussex, where he is a senior research associate. His lecture was entitled "'Learning from Dazhai' and its Environmental Consequences." The talk was based around the village of Dazhai, which became known for its harsh environment that was ultimately transformed into one favourable to agriculture through extreme physical labor and communal efforts.
