Film Screening + Discussion: The Last Ocean

Green Visions Film Series

10.07.2014 at 20:00

Location: Gasteig München, Vortragssaal der Bibliothek, Rosenheimer Str. 5

Director: Peter Young

The Ross Sea is considered to be one of the last largely untouched oceans on Earth. Approximately one million square kilometers in size and rich in marine life, it is of significant interest for industrial fishing. Young's film shows how vulnerable this sea on the edge of Antarctica is, and how for example the large-scale fishing of tuna provides food for the finest restaurants around the world.

A discussion with Prof. Dr. Christian Möllmann, from the Institute for Hydrobiology and Fisheries Science at the University of Hamburg, will follow the screening.

The film will be shown in English with German subtitles.

Free and open to the public.

Reservations: Call 089 / 48 00 66-239. Reservations are only valid until 19:50.
