The International Consortium of Environmental History Organizations (ICEHO) is organizing the Second World Congress of Environmental History in Guimarães, Portugal this year. As a major member of ICEHO, the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society is sponsoring a reception to launch the RCC Perspectives volume "Edges of Environmental History." This volume celebrates the work of Jane Carruthers, the outgoing president of the International Consortium of Environmental History Organizations, whose work has given the discipline a decisive voice both in South African and global contexts. The artwork for the volume was provided by the acclaimed Australian landscape painter and art activist Mandy Martin, who also delivered the keynote address in Guimarães.
In addition, numerous RCC staff members and affiliates as well as current and past Carson Fellows are on the programm as chairs or presenters. For more information on the conference visit the conference website.
